With a uniquely varied and tasteful fingerstyle-influenced guitar technique and enough gray hairs to prove he’s paid his musical dues, John Friedlander writes songs of warped love, wry comment, and deep conscience, with melodies that seem like ageless classics newly revealed. With his roots deep in the blues, Dan Gage’s harmonica playing reaches for the heights of musical virtuosity, while his powerful singing adds another commanding dimension to JD Bone’s arrangements. JD Bone's repertoire includes timeless blues standards and less well-known selections, as well as a tasty menu of folkish tunes and a hefty dose of superb originals, bringing intelligence and levity to blues, and injecting folk with a shot of soul. John and Dan met during a real estate transaction in 2004 and have been creating original music and giving new life to blues classics ever since. Pronounced “JD Bone” by bluesman “Pops” Walker from the stage after their debut performance in November of 2004, John and Dan continually hone their unique sound, and try to figure out just what “JD Bone” means. John is also co-host of the Haddam, CT house concert series “Church House Concerts.” |
